Love that your quotes are back. this one makes me smile. Every night Hubs and I sit outside on the courtyard for at least an hour. Decompress from the day, enjoy a scotch and dream
That sounds ideal. How is your husband handling
retirement, it’s probably not as bad as he thought.
We are still a work in progress. I need to add a page
my login is in the same position as the LC button.
I am thinking of pictures.
Wow, lucky you. You have all the
goodies right at your finger tips.
Nothing compares to freshly grown
herbs. My favorite thing to grown is
bell peppers, they are so much better
than store bought.
What kind of exposure do they get?
It wouldn’t matter to me, I have more
plants than I really need, but I love
having them so I’m pretty satisfied.
I never really thought about longevity
in plants but now I know they can live
for many years, if given the proper care.
Sounds like your courtyard is like my back
yard facing south. It is sunny all day and
well into the late afternoon. We have a
pergola and a gazebo to hide under. My
husband tried to warn me about the lack
of shade during the summer months but I
thought how bad can it be. Well now I know,
pretty bad!
leans more North-South. he tree coverage andthe angle of the sun heats up first one side then the other. I have 4 large umrellas thatIopen around the courtyard.
Four, wow, that’s a lot. Do they cover
the entire area, must be nice to sit in
the shade on a sunny day. Here, it’s
so dry in the summer it’s not really
all that comfortable even in the shade.
we also have a fan, it hangs and can be moved in any direction. Center Table with a large umbrella always open. 11′ umbrella on one end and 2 10′ umbrellas on the afternoon sun side, longer side. The courtyard is 30′ x 17′. One corner has a garden with three shaped trees.and a large antique Fountain
In all these years I have never seen your
garden. We’ve talked about it quite a bit.
Maybe post some pictures. I am thinking
of doing a video once we get the garden
trimmed up some more.
Interesting talk about gardening. We’re planning to buy some small plants for our deck soon. Our downstairs neighbor has a year round indoor garden in their apartment, and we would like to do the same.
I think you will love it. Growing plants
is a good pastime. Since you and your
husband both like to cook fresh herbs
will make for a more pleasant cooking
experience.
Our downstairs neighbor does that. It’s really cool. We have two hooks on our balcony that would allow hanging plants. We’re thinking about making our own planter box and grow herbs, but we also have two rambunctious cats who like to chew on things. So we would have to “cat proof” any mini garden we start
Over plant, allow them to eat some. You can try a small planter with cat nip in a corner. They will enjoy getting stoned and maybe leave your other herbs alone. Buy one plant and a pack of seeds. Every 2 weeks put more seed in the pot. Should keep them happy
Pagodas are a chinese semi evergreen. Large heart shaped leaves with long racemes of red flowers. After a year or two in the ground they spread out. I use them in shade and sunny areas. I will pull up new and plants and share them with others. My property is .69 acres, partly wooded so I let them grow unfettered there, they like sun so the shady areas do not spread
Good morning Trace. That’s a lot of acreage.
Do you have lots of trees?
Your lot is twice as large as ours, yet,
for me, it’s a bit much for us at our age.
I think today I’ll spray myself all over
and do some more yard work. I like
flowering plants, but unfortunately, they can
be messy. Winston should have fun eating
whatever looks appetizing to him.
He grazes around
the yard as if he’s at a salad bar.
Nope, he hasn’t gotten over eating rocks.
Matter of fact, he eats just
about anything he sees. He has
been munching on dead bees and
whatever else he sees while grazing.
Ha! You wouldn’t think it was funny
if you were listening to him crunching
up the rock, it’s like nails on a chalk
board. It was funny watching him
getting chased by the bees he was
annoying. They didn’t sting him but
they did get him to go away.
Are you still walking them on leashes,
they’re probably better behaved than
Winston.
Lucky you. My little guy enjoys a good tussle
especially when we try to take him for a walk.
Winston is a year and a half, he’s maturing but
he’s still basically a puppy.
Baxter is still the taller skinnier lovey, while Beanie is hairy, shorter, cute fake growler funny and very interested in play. Both are still bad on a leash for at least 10 minutes.
Yeah, he is quite the character. This morning he
got ahold of one of my socks and chewed on it
while I was not paying attention, he is very
mischievous.
It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime events where there was a whole lot of hype for something that lasted about an hour. The next solar eclipse that will cross north America won’t happen again until another 400 years
Well good morning! I wasn’t trying to be flippant when I said I hardly noticed. I really didn’t see any change
but I never looked either. I witnessed a solar eclipse way back when I was a
teenager. It was incredible.
That’s great! Love how you organized the site very easy to navigate. Thanks again for helping me log on! Time to whip up salmon with Italian herbs along with roasted rosemary potatoes.

I am thinking of pictures.
He loves it. He is the chore king around the house and yard.
Keeps him busy and out of your hair, got it
🙂
Pics would be nice, my pups would be my kid pictures
I added a page with our avatars and a few
others. I would like to build on them over
time.
Happy Saturday!
Have a whole week off. Time to catch up on that thing called sleep that I keep hearing about.
Hiya, good morning, happy Saturday to you too.
Morning all
Morning Trace! We are having a rainy morning.
I am making beef stew. Something warm for a
cool morning.
Good morning! Can I have some? 🙂
Absolutely! Come and get it, hehehehee!
Great! We’ll be there in a couple of months.
Hmm, sounds like a plan. But, I
can’t guarantee there will be soup!
I’ll settle for chicken wings or ribs then. You always seem to have one of those two things!
I try to have quick snacky stuff in
supply. Why aren’t you sleep yet?
We are sunny and in the 70’s. Perfect weather. Pasta with herbs and shrimp for dinner in my home
Ah, that sounds tasty, wish I could eat shrimp.
I miss being able to have seafood pasta.
Fresh herbs from my potted garden on the courtyard.
Things here have really come to life
it looks pretty lush now. What herbs
do you grow.? My garden is over flowing
no room for anything more.
the basics of parsley/oregano/basil, several types. Green onions, mint, thyme, cilantro and a few others
Wow, lucky you. You have all the
goodies right at your finger tips.
Nothing compares to freshly grown
herbs. My favorite thing to grown is
bell peppers, they are so much better

I have them every year. many are over 2 years old. Even my basil is on it’s second year.

SUN!!!! They are on the courtyard. I also have 4 umbrellas to shade when needed.

south east to north west.
Morning Trace.
Which direction does your courtyard face?
Hopefully not southeast like we are.
Have you seen the slideshow of Beautiful Gardens
on the left?
I am going to make a slide of my garden soon. I need to get the pictures gathered
in one place.

HERBS!!! I have most on the courtyard but a wide shallow bowl in the kitchen. Plant the herbs you use daily inside.
use rail racks, you can have the plants hang down with upright as well. So pretty to see
By the way, ttk is my oldest daughter.
I realized that
I figured as much.
Our downstairs neighbor does that. It’s really cool. We have two hooks on our balcony that would allow hanging plants. We’re thinking about making our own planter box and grow herbs, but we also have two rambunctious cats who like to chew on things. So we would have to “cat proof” any mini garden we start

I could do that, let some of the plants start blooming, it is a wow factor and burst of red and whites and yellow
Hiya Trace. That’s a good idea. My yard
is still coming back to life also. Most of
the trees and bushes are back but nor all.
the pagodas are still small. I will wait till they are their normal 5-9 feet tall. They are gorgeous.
Pagodas? What are they? I was thinking
yesterday about hyacinths, I sure wish I
could grow them. I did grow coleuses a
couple years in a row.
Pagodas are a chinese semi evergreen. Large heart shaped leaves with long racemes of red flowers. After a year or two in the ground they spread out. I use them in shade and sunny areas. At least he’s over his rock eating phase. He’s eating more healthy now!
Nope, he hasn’t gotten over eating rocks.
Matter of fact, he eats just
about anything he sees. He has
been munching on dead bees and
whatever else he sees while grazing.
Eating dead bees and rocks…yummy!
Our boys like to chew on wheat grass, flowers that we buy, and my cell phone charging wire. 🙂
Ha! You wouldn’t think it was funny
if you were listening to him crunching
up the rock, it’s like nails on a chalk
board. It was funny watching him

Are you still walking them on leashes,
they’re probably better behaved than
Winston.
We put them on leashes on when it’s a place they’ve never been to before. But they both still wear the harness without trying to escape from it.
They are better behaved than Winston
is at this point, he’s still into fighting the leash,
I suppose it’s a game to him.
The pups never fought the leash, they knew they were going out for a walk. BUT, they still tug at times and misbehave….but they are young dogs
Lucky you. My little guy enjoys a good tussle
especially when we try to take him for a walk.
Winston is a year and a half, he’s maturing but
he’s still basically a puppy.

I like the red
Cool. I can’t say whether or not I have ever
seen them. Are they abundant in your area?
No they are not. I am the only person in the neighborhood who has them. My sister in Florida sent me tiny ones to start my own groves
Morning Trace. I see, so they are
native to Florida? They remind me
of Hyacinths because they cluster.
Born in CT, moved to Florida when I was around 7 then to Texas at 29
Lo, Oh, I remember you were born
in CT.
I was actually asking if the pagoda
plants are native to Florida.
I did a little planting this morning, I
have a couple of Jade plants I want
to get some size on them so I can
grow a plant or two indoors.
Okay everyone, Marlie finally fixed all my mistakes, she always did in the past as well. I will misspell words, talk too much and enjoy my time here
Lol, I think I am the only one about at this time but
other folks peek in from time to time. How are the
boys? I found their cousin 😀
The boys are so very cute and funny. Calmed down and have free rein in the house. They are 3 years old.
What are they? 3 now?
Winston is just about there as far as
free range, he’s still puppy, sort of.
Your pup is adorable.
He is growing into quite the dog.
He’s still puppyish but he changes
almost daily.
Baxter is still the taller skinnier lovey, while Beanie is hairy, shorter, cute fake growler funny and very interested in play. Both are still bad on a leash for at least 10 minutes.
Sounds like my little terror. Were
the boys from the same litter, I think
they should be more similar but I suppose that’s not necessarily true.
Here’s a picture of our little miscreant.
He is absolutely the cutest little guy
Yeah, he is quite the character. This morning he
got ahold of one of my socks and chewed on it
while I was not paying attention, he is very
mischievous.
Thank you Marlie, it works and you are terrific.
Wonderful! So glad we got you here.
Things would not be the same without
you!
awwww
Am I right? Of course I am.
Just checking functions
Afternoon, still checking comments.
Happy Friday!
This is a test of Commenting without logging on.
Seems to work. Yeppers, sure does.
Greetings and good morning!
Just popped in to say hi – gong shopping shortly.
But won’t be gone too long since it’s raining (in April!!!)
Hey there. I thought you would already
be gone. Better rain than snow, right?
I’m baack! Hasn’t snowed here in a couple of months, and it didn’t stick around.
I’m at home watching the solar eclipse on CBC
I hardly noticed it. Was it worth calling for
a state of emergency?
It’s one of those once-in-a-lifetime events where there was a whole lot of hype for something that lasted about an hour. The next solar eclipse that will cross north America won’t happen again until another 400 years

Sal, I’ve scaled back the site but our old comments
are still here in the archives.
That’s great! Love how you organized the site very easy to navigate. Thanks again for helping me log on! Time to whip up salmon with Italian herbs along with roasted rosemary potatoes.
Glad you like it. It’s still a website but I don’t think
we need all those reminders from the past.
Enjoy your dinner. Very nice to have you back 😀
I AM IN! PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF!
LOL, Indeed it does! Your avatar looks greeat!
Thanks! The tiger gives me the power of the East!
And the West too, if I may say so.
I feel like I’m back in 2016 the layout of the site looks crisp!
Funny, you should say that. The theme
is 2014. I don’t like the newer ones.
It’s baseball season now. Want to switch to the Mariners logo
Okay, can you send me a picture, I’ll up load it.
Do you have a Gravatar account?
Nope…Do I need one to send you the logo I want?
No. Send it to me directly, I will add it to your
profile.
thanks for changing the logo!
You’re welcome. Do you have the day
off?
Yep. I don’t work again until Tuesday.
Okay, got it.
I would like to change my avatar too
You don’t like the Kraken anymore?
Trace we need to get you an avatar. Any suggestions?

Whoo hoo! You’re in business!
Yep, we are a go. Any suggestions for add-ons?
Damn! I finally got it right this time.
Yes ! Excellent !!
Thanks. This new system is quite a bear to navigate.

Hey you! Good to have you here.
Did you have any problems getting
